Is Sweden’s path in the Corona fight the right one?

The simple answer is of course I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ some decisions feel a bit lame though… Like just last week the government changed their mind about official gatherings from the earlier decision of 500 people to 50 people… When we still had 500 some countries had 10 or even 2 !

Just heard some statistics on deaths (in relation to population) here in Sweden compared to other places . We have more deaths than Norway and Finland, slightly less than Denmark and of course less than some other countries that have been hit hard by the Covid-19 disease. The general idea from the government’s experts seem to be flock immunity, but slowly so that the hospitals can care for the sick people and save as many as possible. The Stockholm area has been hit the hardest in Sweden so far.

So, what’s been done in Sweden? Here are some examples: • Official gatherings are limited to 50 people. • Retirement homes are closed for visitors (the virus has found its way into several places so far, hopefully this will help). • High school, colleges, universities and education for adults are still taught BUT through remote learning (mostly digitally as far as I know). Students are at home and most teachers too (except in some places, where they don’t seem to trust that the teachers actually care about their students enough to do their job – or whatever the reason is). • The government has promised a lot of different economic packages to help people and companies through this recession. • The government has pleaded to people to be responsible and stay at home if they show symptoms that could be Covid-19 (like flu or cold symptoms), and 48h after the last symptoms. Also that all people 70+ distance themselves from society as much as they can. • People will get payed even the first day they’re sick now.

Stay safe!! 🦠
